$54.75: The World's Most Expensive Starbucks Drink

June 5, 2014

This is the current world's most expensive Starbucks drink, the $54.75 Sexagintuple Vanilla Bean Mocha Frappuccino, a 128oz (that's a gallon) behemoth with 60 shots of espresso. Twitter user Andrew Chafari got it for free by using his Starbucks gold card. Of course it took making friends with the baristas at Starbucks to make it happen. Some other lady actually managed to order a drink that cost $56.70, but that one is disputed as the most expensive because she didn't bring a cup large enough to fit the whole drink. DISQUALIFIED. Granted pretty much anybody could order the most expensive Starbucks drink if they wanted provided 1) they have a friend who works there and 2) brought in a cup the size of a kiddy pool. I'm going to go this afternoon and order a $600 drink. Then take a picture of the drink and receipt and run. Sure my friend might get fired, but his house parties always suck anyways.

Thanks to lib, RosettaStoned and Allyson, who agree if the person in front of you at Starbucks starts ordering the most expensive drink, your only option is to tap them on the shoulder and challenge them to a duel to to the death.

  • "your savings today is $54.75".....How??? gief cupon...pls

  • Curbufur

Hi there. Just wanted to let you know this record has been beaten a few times already, with me being the current record holder with an 84 shot espresso coming in at $59.75.Check it out... http://www.caffeineinformer...

Also, just wanted to add that the Starbucks that I go to does it right (not burnt, perfect temp, and the baristas get to know you).

  • Closet Nerd

I wish I had this when I was moving my wife out of the house.
    She is heavy as fuck.

    ....just sayin

  • NMR

Wonder where this was bought, it is technically illegal for a barista to give someone more than 8 shots of espresso a day

"a man spends a lot of money for coffee at Starbucks. Coming up next on this hour of the news we talk about the rising cost of gas, why the sky is blue and women be shopping"

  • Neolardo

Any medical types here know if he would die of caffeine poisoning or overdose if he actually drank all that?

  • Meh

Espresso shots have 75mg of caffeine in them. So that's 4500mg of caffeine. This stunt has caused quite the stir at Starbucks. We had to train all employees individually on the subject.

  • Andrew Newton

uhh, I have no medical schooling and can tell you, with confidence, yes you would die if you drank all of that in one sitting.

  • Johnny Bigrig

According to your link, you'd need to consume 400g of caffeine to overdose and die.. and that drink has about 6.5 grams of caffeine. But nice job laying the groundwork. (Edit - My bad, that says mg, not g.. So yes.. you would overdose on it. Well played, Newton.

  • Johnny Bigrig

Although in fairness, it is suggesting the same content would be in 3 extra strength caffeine pills.. and I don't think that'd make a dent in some people

  • The Magnificent Newtboy

Correct me if i'm misreading but that Wikipedia article said the lethal dose was 200mg per kg of body weight, which adds to about 16g for a adult male in the us. So I think that drink would be pretty damn risky.

  • AS

What a waste of good coffee... Oh its Starbucks, nevermind

  • Johnny Bigrig

    Hipster points!

  • AS

I hate the fact that disliking Starbucks has become a hipster statement, because their coffee has genuinely been mistreated( the water they use is way too hot and the beans get scalded, that's why it tastes bitter)

I spend a lot of time in Italy for work, my refusal to call Starbucks good coffee is based on my experience of coffee that had been treated properly.

I'll take the points though, thanks😀

  • My $47.30 drink has been dethroned.

    Well played Andrew. Well played.

  • Luka Mlinar

After drinking that you'll have no problems reaching 88mp/h.

  • WronglyRabbit

    I saw that happen once
