The Future: Land Rover's Invisible Hood Concept

April 14, 2014

At the recent New York International Auto Show, Land Rover displayed this concept for an invisible hood that allows you to view the ground beneath your engine. That way you can actually see what you're running over WHILE YOU'RE RUNNING OVER IT. The future, ladies and gentlemen. The hood works by projecting the feed from a video camera in the vehicle's grill onto the lower part of the car's windshield. There's also a heads-up display with basic car info. Oh -- it says I'm about to hit something. Okay, now it says I did hit something. And look, there he is under the car!

Keep going for a graphic and a video of the invisible hood in action.

Thanks to Argumus Prime, who can transform into an entirely invisible vehicle and not have to pay tolls. And to E V I L A R E S, who is so evil he tried to shoot down Wonder Woman's invisible jet.

As a former school bus driver I can see that would be a great safety feature for seeing what is directly in front of the buses that have hoods. Much more efficient than the simple little mirrors that are used.

It'd make it much easier to run over those little shits that wiped their boogies on the back of the bench on the school bus

How about putting the engine in the back like the old VW bug (haven't seen inside a new one), get rid of the front end of the car altogether and take air friction and head on collisions like a boss?

If i knew someone had this, i'd attach a "Chucky" doll to the bottom of their car in front of the cameras so it looks like Chucky is holding on to the bottom a la "Cape Fear" mode
