Living With Lag: If Our Vision Lagged Like The Internet
This is Living With Lag, a short documentary from Swedish internet provider UmeNet showing how humans would act if our vision lagged like the internet. Basically they have people wearing Oculus Rift headsets with a webcam attached to the front streaming their actual perspective, but with a staggered delay. Then they had them perform tasks like playing table tennis, bowling, riding the bus and cooking. I laughed out loud at the dude cracking the egg. Sadly, they all did better than I do in real life, and my vision isn't laggy. Or maybe it is -- I never thought of that. Maybe all my sensory input takes the long way up to my brain. Like, oh shit, lets go hang out in his nuts for awhile, THEN up to the brain. That could also explain why I suck suck at editing articles so hard.
Hit the jump for two videos. The first watching from the outside with a little picture-in-picture view of the lag view, and another that's the opposite.
Thanks to my buddy Brian, who once punched through his monitor because Count Strike lagged out on him during an important clan match. Then his clan kicked him out. Haha, I remember that!
