3-D Printed Casts With Ultrasound Treatment Could Mend Broken Bones 40 - 80% Faster
It's been known for awhile that regular ultrasound treatments can help mend broken bones, the problem is that traditional plaster casts prevent the therapy from being used. Enter these 3-D printed casts, which can be custom printed to allow a space above the fracture for doctors to place an ultrasonic pulse generator for daily treatments and heal that bone up real quick -- potentially 40 - 80% faster. But how am I supposed to get all my friends to sign that?! You know, I broke my arm twice in high school and would have killed for an open cast like this. I had a full-arm cast (up to the shoulder) both times and used to freak out that I couldn't just remove the cast whenever I wanted. Plus it smelled like a truck stop bathroom. Oh, what's this? 'For a good time call: 213-555-5151.' Wait -- that's my number! Hold on, I'm getting a call. Hello -- who's this? Randal? I don't know any Randals. You say you're looking for good time? Hmmm, well have you ever been to Disney?
Keep going for a couple closeups.
Thanks to GR, who broke his arm but didn't do anything but tape a ring of popsicle sticks around as a makeshift cast. Aaaaah, so that's why your arm's crooked.
