According to a Nike designer, back to the future style powerlaces are coming out next year, THE SAME YEAR MARTY HAS THEM IN THE MOVIE. Just don't get your hopes up for a hoverboard because that shit ain't happening.
...as Sole Collector tells it, designer Tinker Hatfield showed up at the Jordan Brand's Flight Lab space in New Orleans yesterday. When asked about power laces, his answer was pretty unequivocal:
"Are we gonna see power laces in 2015? To that, I say YES!"
As cool as power laces sound, they seem a little unnecessary. I mean, it's not that hard to tie your shoes. I learned that in like, sixth grade. See? "You're wearing flip flops." You're damn right I am. Plus, if your power laces break, can you still tie your shoes, or are they trash? I don't like the idea of a shoe with extra components that can fail. Can you tell I'm just talking them down because I know I won't be able to afford them? That's exactly what's happening here.
Thanks to z4xx0r and PYY, who already feel sorry for the kids in the shoe factories that are gonna lose fingers to powerlaces.
