Just Because They Can: Beer Flavored Jelly Beans
Jelly Belly has just announced it's adding a hefeweizen inspired Draft Beer flavored jelly bean to its lineup. Personally, I'll be sticking to pear. PEAR IS MY JAM, HAAAAAAAI! *bouncing off the walls* "Jesus, GW, how many of those pear-flavored sugar bombs have you already had today?" Including the ones I butt-chugged?
According to the Jelly Belly, "beer has been a highly-requested flavor for decades" and the beer flavor took about three years to perfect. The new variety should come as no surprise from the company that brought us popcorn-flavored jelly beans.
The Draft Beef Flavor jelly bean sports a golden hue with an iridescent finish. The flavor is described as "clean with notes of wheat and a touch of sweetness" with a "mildly bready" aroma. For those looking for the real thing, there's unfortunately no alcohol in the new jelly beans.
I'd try one. But only one -- I'm not wasting any more of my pay-by-the-pound bag of jelly beans on beer flavored ones. If you want to taste a beer, drink a beer. Hell, come to the bar and I'll even buy you one. "This is warm." Haha, its original owner left hours ago.
Thanks to me, for being ultra-skilled at guesstimating how many jelly beans are in a jar (I've won so many contests).
