The Alphabet (& Numbers) Of Butterfly And Moth Wings

butterfly-alphabet.jpg

This is an alphabet and number set created by photographer Kjell Sandved over the past 24-year using nothing but the patterns found on butterfly and moth wings. Crazy, right? I never in a million years would have guessed butterflies and moths knew the alphabet. Mother Nature is crazy! "You're an idiot." I am, but you have to admit Mother Nature is still nuts for all the other shit she's pulled. I mean, sexual reproduction -- what's up with that? Seriously, draw me some privates. You know how most parents have a sex talk with their kids? My dad took me to a monster truck rally instead. "Did you see Bigfoot?" And Grave Digger! *spins penis* Still no clue what this thing is for though.

Thanks to lizzy, who loves getting letters but loves getting packages even more. Same.

Some of these patterns are, quite frankly, weird as fuck to have formed. Like the number 4 and 5 or the letters G and R...like, how in the hell? Yes, I know they aren't formed to actually be these symbols but still...that "4" looking pattern has me weirded out.

The butterflys....they told me to steal the hat from Lincoln's Memorial.

Fahrrrg! They've been trying to talk to us all along. For Christ's sake, why didn't we listen?

So long and thanks for all the fish...

I'm not typically one of these people, but OMG that's old... I remember this picture being in a biology book in high school. Not to give too much away about myself, but that was back in '97.
