Just Stop: A Machine Gun Firing Robot Demonstration

machine-gun-robot.jpg

This is a video from a recent warfare related tech show where companies came to show off their latest robotic killing machines with the hopes the Army will buy them. This is a little tank robot with a MG-240 machine gun mount that can accurately hit targets from 150-meters. The chains are there to prevent it from breaking free, because apparently BREAKING FREE IS AN ACTUAL POSSIBILITY. Other highlights of the show included a BigDog demonstration and a self-driving golf cart. The lowlights of the show included no open bar or hope for the future.

Hit the jump for the demos.

Thanks to Boomsling and Mikey, who agree this will all end poorly. Verrrrrrry poorly.

150 metres ain't nothing to sneeze at. But I'd be substantially more frightened if that robot had the optics (and the sniper rifle) to hit targets at over 1000 metres.
