I'm My Own Best Friend: Dog Plays Fetch With Itself

dog-plays-fetch-by-itself.jpg

This is a video of a precious little scrapheap of a dog using a slow moving stream to play fetch with itself. Apparently the owners were right there watching him too -- he's not just playing by himself because he has to. Which is a relief, because if your dog teaches itself to play fetch alone because you don't have time for it, you have no right owning a dog. Whether you want to admit it or not, you're a cat person.

Hit the jump for the video of Scrappy in action.

Thanks to Brie, who said she has a friend whose dog taught itself to play dead all the time which is constantly terrifying for her friend.

I sometimes play with my own ball. I lost the other one in a tragic spear fishing accident. Since then I have exacted my revenge by ordering fish and chips every day since. I think I may have mercury poisoning though... fish are crafty and not to be underestimated.

That's funny and sad at the same time.

Very cute and smart dog. I've never seen one that would literally use the steam for gameplay like that. He didn't want to get wet though, but in the end, it didn't stop his fun.

The thing is smarter than I would be, making sure it doesn't get stuck before going to far ahead.

I'd just go to the end and wonder why it was taking so long.

    That dog is awesome.

That dog is smarter and more creative than some people I know. Okay...a LOT of people I know.
