Fancy Dining!: A Luxurious 12-Course Meal In A Can

12-course-meal-in-a-can-1.jpg

This is 'All In One', an extravagant 12-course meal in a can created by designer Christopher Godfrey to make some sort of statement about contemporary culture and the use of gimmicks to sell products. Dammit, why's it have to make some sort of social commentary, why can't it just be f***ing yummy?

Contemporary culture means on every trip into town; you're bombarded with gimmicks galore. Gimmicks often diminish their products to turn a profit; downgrading on the content but selling you something thats '50% more'. The All in One 12 course meal offers the average Joe; the chance to dine like royalty without the washing up.

Yeah yeah yeah, enough jibber-jabber -- what's in the can?

Selection of local cheeses with sourdough bread

Pickled kobe beef with charred strawberry
Ricotta ravioli with a soft egg yolk
Shitake mushroom topped with filled peppers
Halibut poached in truffle butter in a coconut crepe
Risotto foraged ramps, prosciutto and fresh parmesan
French onion soup with fresh thyme and gruyere cheese
Roast pork belly and celeriac root puree
Palate cleanser, pear ginger juice
Rib eye steak with grilled mustard greens
Crack pie with milk ice cream on a vanilla tuile
French canele with a malt barley and hazelnut latte

I don't even know what half of that stuff is. Of course I'm also the guy who posts pictures of his SpaghettiO's on the Geekologie Facebook page, so that shouldn't be surprising. Most of the time I just eat out of the vending machine in my apartment building's laundry room. Guess what I had for dinner yesterday. "Doritos?" Close. "A Snickers?" Gum!

Hit the jump for a couple more shots including a closeup of the layers.

Thanks to Alonso, who agrees the best meals come in cans.

    I would eat it.

the flame doesn't give off scent as it travels down the wick. The melted wax is what smells.... as you get closer and closer to the bottom of the candle, the more it'll smell like vomit. I'll pass.

  • That is a seriously fancy looking can of dog food.

  • monkeyspinach

It looks like various scrapings of congealed fat

This feels like I'm looking at those tube to make burger patties back in the early 90s... and it feels SOOO wrong!

    I'm a trucker.
All I've been eating for the past 20 some months is canned food.
I can say without a doubt that I would rather eat caned dog shit before I eat this.

  • Jandkas

I'm sorry, have you eaten that? No? Then you can't be a fair judge on the taste, its shown that you were already bias before actually experiencing for yourself..

  • iblewagoatonce

Get back to me when you try this, I'd like to hear the edgy hipster remarks you have to make about what a quality product this clearly is- as can been seen via the pictures provided of seven layers of vomit.

  • Jandkas

Oh so now we just forget the maxim "don't judge a book by its cover" You see close-minded crap like you are what make the world shittier everyday. You never give new things a chance unless they directly serve you and you only.

  • Skeeter

for some one who eats shit straight out the can, this would definitely be an experiance

  • ODwanKenObi

You eat sHit out of a can?

  • Skeeter

It always goes wrong when we come to dessert...

Apparently they don't teach proper semicolon use in art school.

  • I try not to be a grammar nazi, but I agree wholeheartedly. Seriously those shouldn't even be commas.
