A Tiny 3-D Printed Game Of Thrones Winterfell Castle

3d-printed-winterfell-1.jpg

This is a little Winterfell castle that was 3-D printed using a MakerBot and a digital model file created using screencaps from the show's opening. If you have your own MakerBot 3-D printer you can head to the project page and download the file yourself and start printing these things off and selling them on Etsy. "I was thinking the same thing." I know you were -- great minds think alike. "Are you insinuating that--" My cat wrote this post? Yes. He can open the refrigerator and answer the phone too. I've been trying to get him to take the MENSA test but every time I finally get the pencil in his paw he thinks its time to lick his @$$hole.

Hit the jump for several more shots.

Thanks to Becca, who told me she was a Stark. Like Iron Man?! "You're an idiot." I am so dumb most of my friends won't admit knowing me. WILL YOU, JERKS?! *crickets chirping* I just want to move to my own tropical island.

I've never understood Winterfell's design on the show. This is a fortress that exists in a part of that world where winter arrives early and snow is deep and very heavy. Why on earth would they design their buildings to have flat roofs? The weight of the snow would collapse them.
Just a bizarre lapse in logic.

  • So I'm assuming none of you clicked the link that lead to the designer's page?

"This model was designed in Solidworks from the ground up, based on one screen capture (see attached). It printed successfully on a Replicator 2 using 0.2mm layers, 10% infill, 2 shells, with a size of about 80x80mm."

80x80mm is the size of the castle

    So I'm

it just looks small. picture taken of original with tilt/shift lens.

Jesus you people are lazy. Claiming with absolute certainty that it isn't tiny, and that the whole point of this was to be deceptive by taking the picture with a tilt/shift lens? Dear god...people just look for any opportunity to insult and try to look like they know everything...

This tv show vision of Winterfell is a complete nonsense. A medieval castle is not made of giant gears... Shame on that stupid opening, and those who reproduce it. Mwahahaha

  • Matty Spinny

damn it just spent 3,000 on a maker bot... DAMN YOU GEEKOLOGIE for showing me this... must make detailed Hyrule map to play a d&d game!!!!

  • you didn't say the size of this. i'm curious. if you'd put a hand in with the picture, that would give relative size. or put your cat's paw in there.

  • Blurp

Shame it has "YOU CAN HAVE THIS IF YOU HAVE A MAKERBOT" vibe going on. There are tons of 3D printers that outperform the makerbot.

it would be cool to hit this with a hammer

    .....just sayin

I said this to my girlfriend in regards to her breath and she was like "Boi you betta bring it!" We scratched each other with garden trowels for about a half of an hour. Then she told me if I wanted to make whoopie again I needed to buy her a nicer toothbrush. Long story short my girlfriend is your cat.

Remember, "Meow" means 'NO'.... unless she blinks twice
    ..... just sayin
