Microsoft IllumiRoom Expands Gaming Past Just The TV

January 11, 2013 / count me in, experience, great now i can't tell where the video game stops and real life begins, immersive, interesting, it's snowing in my living room!, neato, peripheral vision, pretty, that's too much for me, video games, why not juse use the projector to play the entire game and forget the tv?, xbox

This is a proof on concept video of Microsoft's IllumiRoom technology, a projection system that provides a more immersive gaming experience by filling the room OUTSIDE your television with game-related graphics. That's fine and all, but they better not cover my bikini babe posters. I've had those since middle school. You know how some people count sheep to fall asleep? Well I count boobs. There's eight, so it goes pretty quick. Then I just lie there awake imagining what they might feel like. Silly putty? No clue!

    That looks really amazing, although I wonder if it will be a distraction from gameplay. I have amazing peripheral vision. My ninja instincts might cause my focus to look at the surrounding areas and away from the screen.

    Do we really need projected snow in our actual faces as well as on the characters visor during those cod snow levels?
    The only good application for this i can see is if it interfaced with a kinect, and you could play a matrix game where you had to avoid the bullets that are been fired/projected at you.
    Even then, thats a pants idea.

    That's the stupidest, most useless thing I've ever seen come from a major console maker. This is exactly what it looks like when you first set up a projector and it needs to be calibrated. Why would anybody want that?

    I don't get why this is needed, just get a bigger TV or a projection TV, how does this do anything, really? also if you didnt think the xbox was nothing but FPS's, well clearly you were wrong
