Little Debbie Fills Twinkie Void With Cloud Cakes

little-debbie-cloud-cakes.jpg

As I'm sure you all heartbreakingly recall, Hostess went out of business, taking Twinkies with them. So what's an overweight glutton to do for their prepackaged sponge-cake fix? Enter Little Debbie's Cloud Cakes, a Twinkie knockoff ready to fill the market (and your mouth!) with creamy goodness. For the sake of journalistic integrity, I read a couple reviews online about how they compare to Twinkies, but then got sidetracked reading about how to bake cookies in the microwave, which is kind of where I'm at now. Full disclosure: I don't even HAVE a microwave, I only have a hot plate. And it's not even a real hot plate, it's just a regular plate I warm up by running it under hot water. I tried to cook a pork chop on it once and got sick. Plus worms.

Thanks to Smitty, who agrees if there's a hole in the market, somebody's going to fill it like a jelly-stuffed donut.

For anyone thinking these were a result of Hostess' demise, no. They've been around for a long time. As for the Cloud Cake vs. Twinkie - they're pretty much the same. Kinda like comparing Coke to Pepsi. You either like one or the other, or both are satisfactory. Glad these are still around for anyone wishing for a Twinkie fix! I feel like driving to the store and stuffing myself with 10 Cloud Cakes right now! Orally of course, haaaaaaaa

It's funny how the US went beserk on the whole twinkie thing, we here in Mexico have always had our own version of twinkie and in multiple flavors, "Submarinos" (literally submarines) and the company that produces them, Grupo Bimbo, is the largest bread related food products company in the world, so take that corporate America.

  • Audrey Dokken

I tried your submarinos. They tasted like shit

    Do you know Hermano?

Hmm...the name "songe clouds" seems dull, why not call em' "sponge monkeys"?
