Not Our Circus Jobs!: Bipedal Robot Can Walk A Tightrope

tightrope-robot.jpg

Japanese robotics lover Dr. Guero (of robot-riding-a-bicycle infamy) is back at it, this time with a two-legged balancing robot that can walk a tightrope. It's creepy how human-like it balances itself by waving its little stick thingies around. "Those are its arms." YES -- its arms. Remind me to shoot those off so it can't walk a powerline onto my roof.

Hit the jump for the video. WARNING: Shitty techno soundtrack.

Thanks to Caroline and trevor, who agree the only circus job robots should have is getting shot out of a cannon. Preferably into a brick wall.

Seen here about to inappropriately touch a stepladder, DARPA's autonomous V-bat drone hovers while showing off its 6-foot robotic arm. Wonderful, now they're going to start stealing our claw machine prizes. At least leave some for the kids. Officially, there's an innocuous ... / Continue →

...hmm...this performance needs to be festive, may I suggest a silly top hat and cane?

  • FAKE!!!!

This is a complete photoshop job. You can tell its a fake because the shadow's are all wrong.

This is exactly like that scene in the movie Never Back Down where Max was living in a robot apartment building and heard squeaking noises next door, and when he banged the wall ant told them to give it a rest after hours, the robots there lubricated themselves.

    Wasn't that on Futurama?

  • Walk my ass. That thing is scooting.

  • scooting or walking it's still amazing that this thing can do it and balance itself like a person would.
