This is a video of father Rob Kiebler returning home after a yearlong tour in Afghanistan to surprise his son Danny at his birthday party by dressing as a Jedi. I cried, okay?! HARD. Still am. I'm blowing snot bubbles over here.
Danny was celebrating his birthday with family and friends at the Deschutes Brew Pub [GW's note: GREAT PLACE FOR A KID'S BIRTHDAY!] in Portland on July 18 when the cast of characters from Star Wars came in to say hello.
Rob, dressed in a hooded Jedi knight outfit, walked behind the other characters, removed his hood and saw his son for the first time in a year.
"I didn't recognize him at first. I thought it was just a Star Wars character and he was dressed in a costume," Danny told us. "But it wasn't a Star Wars character, he was my dada."
Heartwarming. You know, little Danny reminds me a lot of myself at his age. And not just the whole "hanging out at a brewpub with a bunch of adults and wondering where your dad is" thing, either. I had the same haircut too. But yeah, I guess mostly the first thing.
Hit the jump and get your cry on. Go on -- it's cathartic.
Thanks to Mark, Susannah and K-Man, who like to surprisetheir kids the old fashioned way: hiding in a hall closet and then jumping out and screaming when they walk by.
