Terrible Cook: Cracking An Egg 20-Meters Underwater

underwater-egg-crack.jpg

This is a video demonstrating what happens if you crack an egg 20-meters (~65-feet) underwater. And if you crack an egg into a pot of boiling ramen? Magic happens. Add some shredded cheese and HELLO, BREAKFAST. So yeah, when you crack an egg open under pressure, the egg white stays together and you can see the yolk floating in the middle. Be warned though: I performed a similar experiment once and wound up attracting a shark. Then I had to punch it in the nose and tear its heart out to save the mermaid village.

Hit the jump for the video.

Thanks to Viv, who never cracks her eggs underwater because she doesn't want to have to explain it to the health department.

  • Halfway through the video I tried to imagine what this must look like to a chicken: Giant monsters playing with and destroying a fetus on an alien planet.

  • Billy Rocka

    That's a nice thought experiment.

  • John McLean

There was no fetus. It's a plain, unfertilised egg.

  • That was anticlimactic.
