Force Choking: European Burger Chain Rolls Out Star Wars Burgers To Celebrate 3-D Release Of Episode 1

star-wars-burgers.jpg

This is a line of limited edition cheeseburgers being rolled out by European burger franchise Quick to celebrate the release of Star Wars Episode 1 in 3-D. I hope George chokes on one. As you can see, the Darth Vader version has a black bun, the Darth Maul a red bun, and the Yoda burger has tauntaun jiblets on top. Or...something. Clever idea, but the Taco Bell by my apartment has already been selling Chewbacca tacos for months now. Get it? WEAR YOUR F***ING HAIR NET.

Quick Burger Making Black (Vader) and Red (Maul) Star Wars Burgers [obviouswinner]

Thanks to Terry, who could easily eat one of each and still have room for dessert (he's a foodie glutton).

  • I'd eat those.

  • Daniel Stackowicz

    Why are they called "Dark"s in Europe and not "Darth"s?

  • Dom Barlow

    Also, "Darth Vader" is close enough to the Dutch for "Dark Father" they changed it for consistencies sake, since while the phrase is awesome it's not what the character is called. Presumably it's like that across Europe for the same reason.

    I'm also kind of worried what they've put into the bun of the Vader to make it black as coal. Not really sure that's entirely edible.

    Darth is not a word in Dutch. Dark is donker, so dark father in Dutch would be Donker vader. Darth Vader is simply Darth Vader in Dutch, and this burger chain does not exist in the Netherlands.

    The original translation for the Star Wars movies in France in the 70's was pretty bad, and some of it remains today. Especially the Darth/Dark thing (so in the French version, it's Dark Maul for instance).

    Darth Vader => Dark Vador
    Chewbacca => Chicktabba
    Han Solo => Ian Solo
    Death Star => Etoile noire (= Black star)
    C3PO => Z-6PO
    etc...

  • you can have a black bun in the states... just leave it outdoors for 6 mo, all the mold, fly larvae etc will turn that sucker black. ofc normally it would take a week but with all those preservatives, it takes 6 mo..

    I almost doubt it... how soon we have forgotten the year old happy meal!

  • I wonder if the Anakin burger comes with a tall glass of wine.

  • Emmitt Morgans

    oh... *I* see what you did there!

  • Black?! That first burger has black buns?! This is more ridiculous than 'pretty patties'.

  • Emmitt Morgans

    My girlfriend is in France and she was told by one of her French friends that it's about on par with (or maybe mostly worse than) McDonald's... so that's one thing...

    That and you might die like the kid who did at the beginning of 2011 from eating there... just look here under 'Controversy':  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Q...

    To quote Han Solo and Lando Calrissian:  "It's not my fault!"

  • tehashi

    Why can't we ever get anything cool like that here in the states?

  • We don't have Burger Kings in France...
