Impressive LEGO Tiger (Plus Bonus Pokemons!!!!11)

December 28, 2011 / animals, good job, good lookin', i am impress, impressive, lego, lightsaber, man i might commission a custom lego link statue, plastic, pocket monsters, pokemon, rawr!, skills, what was i just talking about?

This is a lion tiger (I never learned my animals) made entirely out of LEGO/Technic pieces by LEGO-maniac and DeviantARTist retinence. As you can see, the dude has skills. I also included several of the Pokemon characters he's made after the jump, because I know how much some of you love Pokemons. SPOILER: An unhealthy amount. No laughing, Trekkies! You're wearing pointy ears and talking into a f***ing brooch. "HAHA!" Whoa -- same goes for you, Star War-riors. You just spent $350 on a lightsaber replica that makes sounds and changes colors when you hit something, didn't you? And after you already had two other ones. "But this one's purple!" You're sick.

    Current stuff is so full of specialized parts it's hard to consider them Lego kits anymore.

    Nowhere near that extreme. Until the late 90's their kits looked mostly like http://img267.imageshack.us/im... and specialized parts were restricted to a minimum (e.g. 2-3 boat hulls http://img32.imageshack.us/img... ).

    The flood of specialized parts started with the Bionicle product line and their various merchandising contracts.

  • Sure lego has specialized parts but it really is not bad.  I am a child of the 90s and I can speak to the effect that I spent hours building and never once felt I was limited by a piece because it to specific.

    New contracts opened new doors and made the building experience deeper and more crisp. No longer would I be limited to a square doorframe as Lego Harry Potter brought us a huge increase in curves and arches. Lego Star Wars blew a kids mind. By seeing that such amazing ships could be built it only pushed creativity further. I remember sitting around for days creating huge custom ships and it was amazing.

    Bionicle was also my favorite series. I remember the begining. A knob on the back swung the arms in a brutish fashion. There was a story and identifying characters. The best part was how you could swap and combine parts to try to have a better character then your friend and you could battle each other. I did develop a distste for bionicle once it left the Toa Metru era and the figures lost their gear motion. At that point they had really just become pose able figurines.

    Sorry for the little rant but memories can make a man lose himself. Lego is doing just fine. They inspire creativity even to this day. Im sorry that we have evolved past plastic erector sets but that is life I suppose. At least we are not mega bloks.

    This is true. But I must say, Bionicle was by far the only series that I truly enjoyed. The money I spent on those things could have saved Africa twice. I still have a huge storage been full of pieces sitting at the foot of my bed right now.
