Jul 29 2010Megatron, Is That You?: Metal Puzzle Block Transforms Into A Fully Functional Firearm

What you're looking at is a 125-piece puzzle block that, when disassembled and reassembled properly, becomes a .45-caliber firearm with all the accouterments, including laser sight (pics after the jump). Now transform and shoot out! *bang!* Oooor just blast yourself in the leg.

Michigan machinist GarE Maxton makes many different types of interlocking solid puzzles of this type, this time, he made a Puzzle Pistol, a single shot 45 caliber muzzle loading pistol, called the Intimidator. The Intimidator Puzzle is composed of over 125 pieces made from brass, bronze, copper, aluminum, magnesium and steel. Once diassembled, about 20 of the pieces can be recombined to make a functioning single-shot pistol. Other parts of the puzzle separately and securely store "a customized set of tools, all necessary hardware, 45 caliber bullets, a standard sight, a laser sight, a cannister containing black powder pellets, a secure storage area for 209 shotgun primers, a spent primer removal tool and a ramrod for loading the bullets."

Amazing! Granted not as amazing as it would have been if it turned into a Chinese finger trap, but I still give it a 9/10. What do you mean it deserves a 10? But you're the only 10 in my book. I'm kidding you dirty 4!

Hit the jump for two more worthwhile pictures of all the pieces dissembled, and a shot(!) of the gun.

125-piece puzzle in 6 different metals with hidden "Golden Gun" [likecool]

Thanks to Ryan, calme divin and Doktor Naught, who all tried making Rubik's Cube hand grenades but ended up blowing their fingers off. Ha, you guys need to leave it to the professiona-- *BOOM!* Oh God -- help.

this is actually pretty bad ass

great, security will start screening rubix cube's once they get a hold of this

The box doesn't transform into the pistol, it contains the pistol parts inside.

All hail megatron!

You all know there's only one way to end this war: we must destroy the Cube. If all else fails, I will unite it with the spark in my chest.

am i the only one that read the "!" as the MGS alert sound

"but I still give it a 9/10. What do you mean it deserves a 10? But you're the only 10 in my book. I'm kidding you dirty 4!"

GW you got me rollin!!!!!! marry meeeeee and @6 that made me rolf haahahaha

@8 no you are not the only one :D

Wouldn't it be easier to just hide a weapon in that thing than to have to hide all the small pieces inside to make it look like a simple puzzle?

Apparently it also comes with a lightsaber (middle right)

Intimidator is a laaaaaame name for a weapon you just assembled from uncountable little puzzle pieces.

That's a name for a minigun...

Something like "Enigma" or "Clandestine" would have been so much better.

soooooo, here's a easy way to get a gun on an air plane. cool, but not cool.

pfft, that's nothing, my penis can turn into a gatling gun.

@16 pfft, that's nothing, my gatling gun can turn into a penis.

Can you purchase this?

Hey, just put a grenade inside, thus when pulling it apart, solves all your worries in one big puzzle shaped shrapnel BANG!

d00d... I'm pretty sure my hubby is gonna ooze awesomesauce when he sees this... Too bad there's no pricing listed and the contact/order form isn't working...

Im guessing none of the magnesium bits make up the actual pistol. Black powder rounds and magnesium. That would be interesting to fire. Maybe thats why its 'single shot', cause when you fire it, it goes off like a signal flare and burns off your hand.

its a single shot, .45s arent that acurate, a .22 or a 9mil would have been preferable, or fuck since its a single shot lets make it s a.308 win lol

@8 NAH, MA DUDE! :D yay

DUDE that is so awesome

See it in action

Considering his base puzzles that are like 6 inches high / wide are OVER A THOUSAND DOLLARS I would expect this thing to be well over 2 or 3 if not higher.. Heres a link to his puzzle site.. they are just stupid expensive...

What bugs me is that the puzzle pieces do not make the gun. They 'hide' the tools and gun bits. The gun is like 25 of the hundred or so pieces.

A gun? Lame.

I dont think we like it that much.

I dont think we like it. You can see my views on http://www.america.gov/st/peopleplace-english/2010/July/20100723164404kcsniggih0.6870233.html

Handles upside down in the middle picture with all the pieces. Fail.

Handles upside down in the middle picture with all the pieces. Fail.

at least it's not as deadly as jigsaw

@26, the 55 piece puzzle is $8500 so the gun is probably 2-3 times that much based on the number of pieces.

@21, magnesium only burns in pure powder form.

Gives a new meaning to cube warfare

Yeesh, what a waste, a zip gun hidden in a puzzle box. I would have been more impressed with a crossbow. Next he try just putting a revolver in a Parker Brothers puzzle package.

dude someone is going to sneak that "puzzle" onto an airplane lol.

Imagine trying to take it apart and put it together without the manual the first time casue your pro at trying new stuff, now where did this piece go...
