Nov 30 2007Police Forces To Get Flying Video Drones

micro-air-vehicle.jpg

Both the Miami-Dade, Florida and Houston, Texas police departments will soon be adding a new officer to the force -- the Micro Air Vehicle (MAV), made by Honeywell. The little RC bastards can fly to a 10,500-foot altitude, hover, and even fly through windows -- all the while transmitting live video. "The unmanned aircraft will be used during SWAT team and tactical operations, especially when officers need video of a heavily armed suspect." Interesting, I'm glad they're finally putting these things to good use. Now I hate to be a conspiracy theorist or anything, but I swear I saw one of these hovering outside my bedroom window last night. There I am, sitting on the edge of the bed masturbating, when I catch a glimpse out the corner of my eye. Now call me crazy, but I think this is solid proof that the government has a vested interest in examining the world's smallest penis.

A video of the little bugger in action after the jump.

Anyone want to target practice??

Clearly this is a sign of the apocalypse. I saw these buggers in a documentary called Terminator 2. I'm hazy on the details, but it's not a good future.

Hmmm.... I have a feeling that when these things take over the world, we are going to hear the famouse words of the team who created the "Manhattan Project" "WHAT HAVE WE DONE!?"

Whoneedsenemies is right.

I see one of those things...

...it's coming down.

T2? The Manhattan Project? All of you people are crazy. This is clearly reminiscent of those things in the movie "They Live" starring Roddy Roddy Piper. Except they're not invisible or made by aliens.

I agree with 1, 2, & 3. Pretty soon, those UFO sightings will be real (until they're identified, therefore becoming IFO's)...maybe those who are "out there" watching from another planet or something will use this as the perfect decoy to come to the planet...aye, I fear the end is near.

Heh, I like it "forward & downward looking cameras." I guess they didn't think to mount rear and upward looking cameras to make sure they don't run into birds or a plane...oops! And the dude in the video looks like a marine, not SWAT...oh big surprise, the government trying to make a good excuse/reason for spending more money on ways to "see things."

I saw one of these on Hoth. I shot it down no problem. But it brought a whole slurry of bad news cops (Empire Forces).

Wow, that is cool. It's like right out of the comics and movies. Also, you guys are right, it does look like the probe droid from star wars V. Or one of Vilgax's air drones from Ben 10. Or an air war robot from T3, not T2. ^_^

Half Life 2 Anyone?

this 'thing' reminds me the floating cameras from the game Half Life 2...

Uhh, "Cypher" anyone?
the military has had them for years..

I for one bow down to our flying robotic masters.
