Similar to the sinking LED clock, the Titanic lamp is designed to look like it's sinking into whatever surface you place it on. Sort of like my home. Only that wasn't a design choice, I just happen to live on a lake.

Wouldn't it not have much lighting coverage, though? Since the shade's directing most of the light into the table. And while sinking light is arguably cool, it's not easy to read by.
